Tesla cuts prices in Germany, France to boost demand

By on December 8, 2025
BERLIN — Tesla’s latest price reductions in Europe were made possible because of a scaling up and improvement in its production capacity, the company said. Tesla cut prices in European markets including Germany and France on Friday, with all versions of the Model 3, Model S, and Model X selling for lower prices as well as the Model Y Performance. “Our mission is to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Our master plan has set a clear pathway to achieve that mission: the transformation of cost-intensive small-series products to cheaper mass-series vehicles,” Tesla said in a statement. In Germany, Tesla…

Nikola battles for scarce funding as it launches its first truck

By on November 10, 2025
Like every other startup, Nikola is in search of funds to continue its mission to deliver zero-pollution cargo-moving trucks. Last week, it floated a $100 million stock offering that underwhelmed Wall Street. The company’s cash is being spent in three major areas: building trucks, creating a network of hydrogen fueling stations and developing software for autonomous driving. Any one of those pursuits would be a huge project for a startup. Perfecting all three seems like a moonshot. But Lohscheller has been able to sign up partners to help defray some of the costs. And thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act,…

Luxury tax is an administrative headache, dealers say

By on October 24, 2025
However, CRA appeared to dispute the criticism. “The CRA received a manageable number of calls that were responders [to] in a timely manner,” it said in an emailed statement. The CRA created a “landing page” on its website last July to address questions and explain how the tax is applied. “We met with the industry and their representatives and addressed their questions and concerns,” CRA said. “The information supplied in response to their questions was published on our web landing page.” Bernard’s comments came in the wake of a Finance Department report released in March on the potential economic impact…

UAW President Shawn Fain prepares for ‘war’ against corporations

By on October 14, 2025
“We have the discipline we need to organize better than ever before,” Fain said. “We have the understanding we need to regain the trust of the membership. We have the organization that, if united in a common goal, we cannot be defeated. We have the will to sacrifice for the greater good, including on the picket line. “ Fain said the UAW planned to fight to gain what it lost during the Great Recession, when the automakers asked for concessions to remain afloat financially. “Our members have very high expectations, and rightly so,” Fain said. “They demanded equality of sacrifice…

Guide to Windshield Replacement in Arizona

By on September 29, 2025
Many drivers think they will be perfectly safe driving around with a crack or chip in their windshield, this often isn’t the case. Any obstruction in the windshield can result in unsafe driving conditions and could ultimately cause an accident. Because chips and cracks are prone to spreading over time, especially when exposed to the extreme weather conditions typically found in Arizona, it’s essential to consider windshield replacement, especially if the situation cannot be resolved with an auto glass repair. While this is a simple process, many people wonder if they really need to replace their windshield at all. The…

By on June 10, 2023
Wescast Industries, a Tier 1 automotive supplier of exhaust manifolds, has informed Unifor of its intention to close its foundry in Wingham, Ont., where it has operated for more than 120 years, the union said May 29. Unifor said the closure will devastate workers, families and the community of Wingham, about 190 kilometers northwest of Toronto. About 250 members of Unifor Local 4207 work at the facility. “Wescast and its overseas owners are turning their backs on the foundry’s dedicated workforce and the community that has supported them for generations,” Unifor National President Lana Payne said. “The Wingham foundry closure…

By on June 4, 2023
General Motors and South Korea’s Posco Future M said they will invest more to expand the production capacity at their chemical battery materials facility in Canada, taking their estimated total investment in the plant to over US$1 billion. The companies said on June 2 the new investment in their Ultium CAM plant, expected to start operating in 2025, will be used to set up additional facilities for local on-site processing of critical minerals used in electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
