Most 2027 Subaru Forester models will maintain the same starting prices as their 2026 counterparts, with the gas-only Forester beginning at $31,470 and the hybrid variant starting at $36,205. However, Subaru has restructured its lineup, discontinuing three nonhybrid trims and introducing a new Wilderness trim for the hybrid model.
The 2027 nonhybrid Forester will offer four trims: Base, Premium, Wilderness, and Limited. The Sport, Sport Onyx Edition, and Touring trims are being discontinued, significantly shrinking the gas-only lineup. Meanwhile, the hybrid Forester expands to five trims, with Premium Hybrid as the base model and additional options including Sport Hybrid, Wilderness Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.
The base nonhybrid Forester remains priced at $31,470, matching the 2026 model. All gas-only variants use a 2.5-liter boxer engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. The base hybrid model also holds its 2026 price at $36,205, featuring a 2.5-liter boxer engine combined with electric motors and a lithium-ion battery producing 194 horsepower, mated to a CVT.
Pricing remains steady for most trims, with the Forester Premium at $33,470, Sport Hybrid at $39,405, Limited Hybrid at $40,470, and Touring Hybrid at $43,020. However, the Forester Limited models see a $1,625 increase to $39,070, while the Wilderness trim experiences a steeper $2,525 hike, setting its price at $40,970.
The new Forester Wilderness Hybrid, Subaru’s first hybrid variant in the Wilderness subbrand, starts at $41,970. This trim joins an existing Wilderness model that has contributed over 13 percent of Forester sales since its 2021 debut. The hybrid Wilderness trim is priced $1,000 higher than its nonhybrid counterpart.
Both Wilderness models now include features previously offered as options. A Harman/Kardon stereo system, power liftgate, 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and in-dash navigation are now standard across both the gas-only and hybrid Wilderness trims. These enhancements reflect Subaru’s strategy to bundle popular features without increasing prices for most trims.
The 2027 Forester and Forester Hybrid lineups will arrive at dealerships later this year. Subaru’s decision to streamline its nonhybrid offerings while expanding hybrid options aligns with growing consumer interest in fuel-efficient vehicles. The addition of the Wilderness Hybrid demonstrates the brand’s commitment to combining rugged capability with hybrid technology, a trend that has proven successful in models like the Outback since 2021.
