Honda’s 2027 Civic Type R introduces a deeper front splitter for improved airflow in its restyled fascia.

The 2027 Honda Civic Type R arrives with refined details that blend performance enhancements with practical upgrades. The most significant buyer-facing change is the inclusion of heated front seats, a feature previously limited to the Acura Integra Type S.

Engineering improvements focus on cooling and aerodynamics. Honda has restyled the front fascia to channel more airflow toward the powertrain, though the exterior alterations remain subtle. A deeper front splitter now generates additional downforce on the front axle, cutting turbulence and tightening stability. These modifications align with updates to the +R mode, which now delivers firmer road grip, less body roll, and better shock absorption during aggressive driving.

Driver engagement receives attention through a revised brake pedal assembly, featuring a yoke spring for a more immediate response. The rev-match system has also been optimized, allowing for swifter downshifts and sharper gear changes. Visually, the model gains a new Meteorite Gray Metallic paint option, while the engine cover now echoes the styling cues of earlier Civic Type R generations.

Inside, the cabin evolves with perforated front seats to reduce movement, along with suede textures on the instrument panel and upper front door panels. The door handles and, more important, the aluminum shift knob are now finished in a darker gray color. The climate control and air vent knobs have been painted black to give the cabin a more upscale look. Standard equipment now includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The updated model carries a slightly higher starting price of $49,990, up from $48,690 in the prior year. Dealers will begin receiving units later this month, positioning the Civic Type R as a competitive alternative to the Acura Integra Type S.
