Metallica lead vocalist James Hetfield ordered a custom Case TV450B skid-steer loader for his California property, decorated with band-inspired designs. Nicknamed the “Hetskid,” the vehicle blends camouflage patterns matching Hetfield’s Snakebyte guitar with pinstripes from his hot rod hobby.

The original “Hetskid” was unveiled in 2024 and has been working on Hetfield’s ranch. Case produced 25 Hetfield Limited Edition replicas, which are now being auctioned off. The first replica includes two tickets to see Metallica at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with the sale benefiting the band’s charity, All Within My Hands.

The TV450B has a 90-horsepower, 3.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine and a 75-cubic-yard-capacity bucket. All Within My Hands supports workforce and trades education, among other causes. Hetfield’s collection of vehicles also includes custom hot rods, such as “Black Pearl” and “Aquarius,” which are based on a 1948 Jaguar and a 1934 Packard, respectively.

Hetfield’s decision to commission a functional piece of heavy equipment, rather than a luxury item, showcases his practical side. They consider the “Hetskid” a unique example of how heavy metal and heavy equipment can come together, making it a standout item for Metallica fans and collectors of rare vehicles.
