Lexus has announced the redesigned 2027 NX, which will come only as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid (PHEV), marking a shift away from gas-only models for this compact SUV.
The 2026 model lineup included a gas-only NX350, but the upcoming version drops that option entirely. Both the NX350h and the NX450h+ plug-in hybrid will be offered, with the PHEV gaining a larger battery and a DC fast-charge port. Lexus estimates the electric range on the NX450h+ will exceed 64 km, up from 60 km on the 2026 version, as per Natural Resources Canada data.
Production details remain consistent with the current generation. The NX Hybrid will continue to be built at Toyota’s plant in Cambridge, Ontario, while the PHEV will be imported from Japan. The new hybrid system uses an e-axle assembly to save space and weight, integrating the motor, transaxle, and power control unit (PCU) into a single unit.

All trims of the 2027 NX will come standard with a 14-inch centre touchscreen, replacing the 9.8-inch screen found on lower trims for 2026. The dashboard also features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new steering wheel. Lexus has also updated the interior materials and colors, introducing a sandy shade called Abalos and an F-Sport-exclusive Radiant Red. The available Mark Levinson audio system features perforated metal speaker grilles with an illuminated ring.
Standard equipment now includes a drive recorder that functions as a dash cam, and an available digital key that lets drivers use a smartphone instead of a key fob. The new “Sensory Concierge” system can coordinate climate control, seat temperature, interior lighting, and fragrance based on three selected modes.
Handling improvements focus on rigidity and weight distribution. The PHEV’s battery is now placed transversely in the chassis rather than longitudinally, which increases the vehicle’s lateral rigidity and lowers the centre of gravity for better handling. The suspension towers have been redesigned, and a new crossmember in the floor adds structural support.

AWD is now standard and upgraded with continuous rear motor control, meaning power is sent to the rear wheels at all times rather than just when extra traction is needed. A new brake control system adds a touch of braking during cornering or sudden lane changes to improve stability. Trims without adaptive variable suspension receive new shock absorbers that better react to road conditions, and all trims get an improved variable steering rack and retuned power steering.
Exterior updates include a redesigned mesh grille, black mirrors and moldings instead of chrome, and new taillights with an illuminated logo. The F Sport trim adds under-front spoilers, gloss-black accents, lightweight 20-inch wheels, and red brake calipers. The NX will be available in three trims: Premium, F Sport, and Luxury.
While the automaker has not yet released pricing, Lexus confirms that the NX’s on-sale availability will be announced at a later date. The vehicle will be offered in new paint shades, including Shaded Ivy and Incognito.
